Smartphone Launches In January 2024: Look Out For OnePlus 12, Galaxy S24 Series And Some Of The Other Biggest Launches

The OnePlus 12 sports a 6.82-inch QHD+ (3168 x 1440 pixels) 120Hz 3D AMOLED LTPO display. Furthermore, there is 4500 nits of peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 93.5% screen-to-body ratio, Dolby Vision support and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powers the OnePlus 12 with up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Additionally, the OnePlus handset has a triple camera setup at the rear, including a 50MP f/1.6 Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS. On the front, there is a 32MP IMX615 f/2.4 sensor for selfies and video calls.

It is backed by a 5400mAh battery that supports 100W SuperVOOC charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4 and USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port for charging. Further, it runs on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14 outside China and ColorOS 14 in China. Lastly, it supports stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, has a Bionic Vibration Motor and is IP65 rated.

The OnePlus 12 has already launched in China and is set for launch in India and globally next month on the 23rd in New Delhi. The handset is going to face tough competition from the iQOO 12 in India, which did amazingly well in our review. Alongside the 12, OnePlus will also launch the OnePlus 12R, whose design was recently confirmed by the brand itself.

Expected Price

The price of the OnePlus 12 series hasn’t been leaked yet. However, in China, it starts at CNY 4,299 (approx Rs 50,600) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant costs CNY 4,799 (approx Rs 56,500). The 16GB + 1TB and 24GB + 1TB are priced at CNY 5,299 (approx Rs 62,400) and CNY 5,799 (approx Rs 68,200), respectively.

If the handset wants to compete with the iQOO 12, it will have to keep its India prices somewhere along similar lines.

Everything about the Galaxy S24 lineup, from design to specs to colour options, has been leaked. It is also being said that the S24 lineup will retain the same prices as the S23 series. Whether that also stands true for the Indian region remains to be seen.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra seems to have gotten minor refinements in design, same as what Galaxy S23 Ultra got over the S22 Ultra. This time, the S24 Ultra gets a Titanium frame along with uniform bezels are the display. It also appears in new shades which include Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow.

This model sports a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x curved panel with up to 120Hz Refresh Rate support, 240Hz touch sampling rate, Eye comfort shield, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and up to 2600 nits of peak brightness. Further, there’s an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The Ultra model will get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all the regions. RAM remains 12GB while storage options go up till 1TB. Cameras on the back appear to be updated. While the 200MP primary sensor, 10MP telephoto sensor and the 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor remain the same as the S23 Ultra, the fourth telephoto sensor is upgraded to a 50MP lens from a 10MP lens on the S23 Ultra. This gives it the ability to offer 3x and 5x optical zoom. The front sensor remains identical to the predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra packs a 5000mAh battery which supports 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging as well.

As for the software, the S24 Ultra runs on OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14. Additional features include S-Pen support housed inside the slot below the S23 Ultra. Further, both the S-Pen and the phone are IP68 water and dust resistant as well. Connectivity options on the device include UWB support, Wi-Fi 7, 5G, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth v5.3 and Wi-Fi Direct.

The leaks so far look promising and accurate as well. If Samsung does what it did with Galaxy S23 series, there’s no stopping the brand’s upcoming flagship lineup from becoming a success.

The Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup will serve as Samsung’s flagships for the year 2024. The Galaxy S24 series is reportedly set to debut on January 18, 2024. However, this date hasn’t officially been confirmed by Samsung as of yet.

The price of the Galaxy S24 series hasn’t leaked yet. A recent leak said that it cost the same as Galaxy S23 series in the US and global markets. However, you can expect it to be priced upwards of Rs 70,000 in India, beginning with the base model. The Ultra model should touch around Rs 1,25,000.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ sports a 6.67-inch 1.5K Resolution AMOLED Display with a Refresh Rate of 120Hz, Dolby Vision, 12-bit colours, 1800 nits peak brightness and HDR10+ support. It is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus. The device is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra SoC under the hood, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It comes with up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ features a triple camera setup with a 200-megapixel Samsung HP3 f/1.65 primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The smartphone also has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Note 13 Pro+ packs a 5,000mAh battery and comes with 120W Fast charging support.

Additional features include X-Axis Linear Haptics Motor, IR Blaster and dual stereo speakers. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and NFC. The device runs on MIUI 14, based on Android 13. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor for security; the device is IP68-rated.

The Redmi Note 13 smartphone lineup came to China in September of 2023 and will be coming to India on January 4, 2024. The lineup is expected to consist of three devices, including the Note 13, the Note 13 Pro and the Note 13 Pro+. Out of the whole lineup, the Pro+ model is the most powerful, with top-notch specifications.

The expected box price for the Redmi Note 13 Pro is Rs 32,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model while the actual price could be around Rs 25,000. The Redmi Note 13 could be priced around Rs 15,000 for the base model and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ may cross the Rs 30,000 mark.

The series will consist of Poco X6 Pro and the vanilla X6, both of which have been spotted on several certification sites. There’s also a Poco X6 Neo which may also debut. At this point, nothing has been confirmed officially by the brand regarding the models. However, leaks suggest that the Poco X6 series is going to consist of rebadged Redmi Note 13 models.

The India launch for the upcoming Poco X6 series smartphone lineup has already been teased by Poco India head and it will be taking place on January 11, 2024 at 5:30PM IST.

The expected price segment for the Poco X6 series is below Rs 35,000. The series is set to be priced aggressively to cater to a large set of audience.

The Vivo X100 series features a 6.78-inch OLED display with curved edges and a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout. The display has an 1.5K pixels resolution. It will feature a 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits peak brightness. The devices are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC paired with UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5x RAM. The 16GB RAM + 1 TB storage variant of both the phones have LPDDR5T RAM.

The Vivo X100 comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery unit and 120W Fast charging support. The Pro model has a bigger 5400mAh cell with slightly slower 100W wired charging, but supports 50W wireless charging with the standard model lacks. They also feature an IP68 rating making them water and dust-resistant.

Connectivity options on both the handsets include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, GPS/ A-GPS, Infrared (IR) blaster, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. There’s a stereo speaker setup as well as an X-axis linear vibration motor present inside the Vivo X100 series.

Vivo X100 smartphone series India launch has been officially announced by the brand and it is set to take place on January 4, 2024 at 12PM IST. It will coincide with the launch of the Redmi Note 13 series in India. Vivo X100 and the Vivo X100 Pro have already been launched in China in November of this year.

The expected starting price of the Vivo X100 series in India is above Rs 60,000. It will compete with some of the top players such as the Galaxy S24 series, OnePlus 12 and more.

In China, the X100 starts at CNY 3,999 (approx Rs 45,600) for the 12GB + 256GB variant and CNY 4,299 (approx Rs 49,000) for the 16GB + 256GB option. The 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB options priced at CNY 4,599 (approx Rs 52,500) and CNY 4,999 (approx Rs 57,000) respectively. The 16GB + 1TB with LPDDR5T RAM technology carries a price tag of CNY 5,099 (approx Rs 58,200).

The same configurations of the Vivo X100 Pro, are priced at CNY 4,999, CNY 5,299 (approx Ra 60,500), CNY 5,499 (approx Rs 62,700), and CNY 5,999 (approx Rs 68,500), respectively.

Honor made a comeback to India with the Honor 90 back in September 2023 and after that, the brand has been silent. However, Honor is now expected to begin 2024 in India with a new launch, and it could be the Honor X9b.

The Honor X9b launched in other regions back in October so we know its specifications in advance. It sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution, 120hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 1.07 billion colours. It is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage

Honor X9b has a triple rear camera setup including a 108MP f/1.75 primary lens, 5MP ultra-wide f/2.2 sensor and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera. On the front, the device is equipped with a 16MP f/2.45 selfie camera. 

The device is backed by a 5800mAh battery with 35W Fast charging support. It runs on MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, 5G, NFC, and a USB-C port. The device also has an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics.

The India launch date of the Honor X9b hasn’t been confirmed by the brand as of now. There have been no leaks regarding it either.

Judging by the price tag of SAR 1399 (approx Rs 31,000) of Honor X9b in Saudi Arabia, the device may be priced similarly here in India as well.

Asus ROG Phone 8 series models will launch with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, as confirmed by the brand on Weibo. Aside from that, the Asus ROG Phone 8 Ultimate was also spotted on Geekbench with the model number ASUS_AI2401_D. The listing suggested that the phone could ship with Android 14 out of the box.

The handsets are expected to boast of a new design compared to previous years’ ROG Gaming smartphones along with 5500mAh battery cells and 65W fast charging. The design for the handsets has already been leaked in images, suggesting a new camera module and front design with uniform bezels around the display. The handsets will also be IP68 rated.

Asus is gearing up to launch ROG 8 series gaming smartphone family globally at CES 2024. To be precise, the launch will take place on January 9. Asus India has also been teasing the smartphone, suggesting India launch could soon follow once the global launch concludes.

The Asus ROG Phone 8 series will come to India as flagships, meaning it should have a premium price tag as well. Based on price of ROG Phone 7 series, the handsets could be priced at around Rs 70,000 in India.

A recent leak suggested that the Neo 9 Pro in India will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset the hood instead of Dimensity 9300 chip seen in the China variant. Further, it will have the same design language as its Chinese counterpart.

The Neo 9 specifications include a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED Display with a 1.5K (1260 x 2800 pixels) resolution, HDR10 support, 2160Hz PWM dimming and up to 1400 nits brightness and up to a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

It packs up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage. There is also a vapour chamber cooling system for heat dissipation. For optics, the iQOO device packs a dual rear camera setup including a 50MP main IMX920 camera with 1/ 1.49″ VCS bionic, f/1.88 aperture, OIS, LED flash, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the handset features a 16-megapixel f/2.45 camera on the front.

The smartphone is backed by a 5160mAh battery with 120W Fast charging support. Further, it will boot Android 14-based Origin OS 4. For connectivity, you will get dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port for charging the handset. It will also have an under-display fingerprint sensor, X-Axis linear vibration motor, and stereo speakers.

The iQOO Neo 9 smartphone series have officially launched in China, and its India launch is set to take place sometime in February 2024, and not in January.

Talking of China price first, the Neo 9 is available in four variants including:

iQOO has been aggressively pricing its devices in India of late, and going by the competitive prices of iQOO Neo 7 Pro as well as the recently launched iQOO 12, the Indian prices of the iQOO Neo 9 Pro should remain similar to that of its Chinese counterpart

The A70 from Itel sports a 6.6-inch display with 60Hz refresh rate, 90% screen-to-body ratio, 500 nits brightness, 120Hz touch sampling rate, and 20:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone features an 13MP rear primary sensor paired with a QVGA lens. There is a 8MP front-facing camera. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and is powered by a Unisoc T603 SoC.

The A70 packs up to 4GB RAM along with up to 8GB virtual RAM. It is offered in 128GB and 256GB storage options. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 10W charging. The iTel A70 runs on Android 13 OS.

The Itel A70 is now slated to arrive in January 2024. While no exact launch date has been confirmed, we can soon expect an announcement from the brand regarding the same. The Itel A70 has already debuted in global markets back in October of this year.

Itel A70 will cost below Rs 8,000 in India according to a leak, and it will be made available in two options, one with 256GB storage and one with 128GB storage.

Launched back in November 2023 in global markets, Tecno Pop 8 sports a 6.6-inch HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) Dot Notch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Tecno Pop 8 is powered by the Unisoc T606 SoC. The device has up to 228GB of in-built storage, which is expandable, and up to 4GB RAM with additional virtual RAM.

For photos and videos, the Tecno device has a dual rear camera setup that comprises of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, plus an AI sensor and dual LED flash. There is also an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front with a flash as well.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB port. The device is backed by a 5000mAh battery which seems to support 10W charging. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor along with dual speakers. It runs on Android 13 Go Edition based HiOS 11.

The launch date for Tecno Pop 8 in India is set for January 3, 2024, making it the first smartphone launch for 2024 in the country. It will be available in a 4GB + 64GB model.

While Tecno hasn’t revealed the price of the handset, if we consider the specs of the handset, it should be priced below Rs 10,000.

The Oppo Find X7 series has been revealed in all its glory by the brand. The Oppo Find X7 and the Find X7 Ultra will have similar designs, and the major differences between the two would be in terms of colour options and specifications. Both of them have a dual-tone design where the bottom half is covered with leather while the upper half is glass. There are three colour options for the Find X7 Ultra, including brown, blue, and a completely black one.

Four colour options are there for the vanilla model, including the same three as the Ultra plus a pink model. The design looks impressive and, in our opinion, distinctive. It creates an identity for the Find X series flagship line and is nothing short of premium.

The Oppo Find X7 series is all set to launch in China on January 8 while there’s no word on the India launch.

So far, there have been no price related leaks for the Oppo Find X7 and the Find X7 Ultra.

The Moto G34 5G is now expected to arrive in India this month. The handset sports a 6.5-inch LCD HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The handset is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W charging.

For optics, the Moto G34 5G offers a dual rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel Macro lens and a 16-megapixel front camera. There’ll be a side-facing fingerprint scanner along with Android 14-based My UX. It also has stereo speakers.

Connectivity options on the Moto G34 5G include 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.5mm Headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port.

The handset will launch in India on January 9, according to a recent leak. The device launched in China back in December 2023.

The expected price range of the handset will be Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. In China, the price of the handset is set at CNY 999 (approx Rs 11,600) for the single 8GB + 128GB variant. The phone comes in Sea Blue and Star Black colours. In other words, one can expect the price of Moto G34 5G in India to be similar to its Chinese variant.

The Reno 11 5G series will consist of two phones, including the Reno 11 and the Reno 11 Pro.

The Reno 11 Pro sports a 6.74-inch OLED curved-edge screen with 1.5K Resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels, 1600 nits peak brightness, 450 ppi, 240Hz touch sampling rate and a 120Hz refresh rate. It gets a 32-megapixel f/2.4 front-facing camera. Its rear-facing triple camera system gets an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 f/1.8 main camera, an 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and a 32-megapixel f/2.0 telephoto camera with 2x zoom.

The Reno 11 Pro 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The device has a 4,700mAh battery with 80W Fast charging support. As for other additional features, there is an in-display optical fingerprint sensor and dual stereo speakers. It has ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 for software. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, NFC, GPS, and a USB-C port for charging.

Oppo is all set to debut the Reno 11 series in India soon, according to a teaser the brand shared via its X account. While no exact launch date was shared for India launch, Oppo has confirmed that the Malaysia launch of the Reno 11 series will take place on January 11. Reports suggest that it could launch in India on the same date.

Considering Oppo’s previous pricing strategy in India, we feel it is going to price the Reno 11 series in a similar fashion as it did in China. The Reno 11 starts at CNY 2,499 (approx Rs 29,300) while the Reno 11 Pro starts at CNY 3,499 (approx Rs 41,100).
